Research program · Λ · Together

Many machines, one mind.

Together is the program for coordinating many machines into one working group: shared maps, divided labor, and graceful recovery when a member drops out. The VEKTR mesh and our sensing-swarm work live here — coordination for coverage and communication, never for attack.

The idea

Cleverness in the group, not the individual.

The crowded way to build capability is one exquisite, expensive machine. Together studies the opposite: many cheap, simple, single-purpose machines that share one picture and divide one job among themselves — and, the moment one is lost, re-divide the work without a word from a human. The intelligence lives in the coordination, not in any single member.

This has two faces. One is VEKTR, the self-healing communication mesh with no center to attack: every node routes, so losing half the nodes loses zero capability. The other is the sensing swarm: groups of unarmed platforms that cover an area together and keep covering it when members drop out. Both share the same core question — how do many simple things behave like one reliable thing?

Together holds a hard line. Its coordination is for coverage and communication only, never for attack. We build the swarm of eyes and the network that survives a bad day; we never build the swarm of weapons, whoever asks and however urgent the emergency. A human always holds the intent the group serves.

Inside the program

What Together is working on.

01

Decentralized coordination

Groups of machines that share one map and divide one area among themselves, with no central brain to knock out. Coverage that survives the loss of any single member, because no member is essential.

02

Self-healing mesh (VEKTR)

A communication fabric where every node routes, traffic reroutes in milliseconds around a lost node, and frequency cycling stays ahead of jamming. The network is the mesh; there is no hub to destroy.

03

Graceful degradation

The art of losing members without losing the mission: the group notices a gap, re-divides the work, and carries on. Cheapness becomes resilience when no single loss matters.

04

Human-held intent

A commander states an intent — watch this stretch, follow that road — and the group arranges itself. The human holds the intent and every decision that flows from it; the machines only arrange the how.

Now · ~1yr

What runs today

small coordinated groups that re-divide work when one drops; VEKTR mesh proven in denied conditions.

Next · 1–2yr

What comes next

larger swarms; ground and water members joining the same coordinated picture; predictive resilience matured.

Later · a bet

A genuine research bet

swarms that reason together about broken ground and contested conditions, arranging themselves around dangers no operator scripted. We label this honestly as a bet, not a promise.

Where Together shows up

Many willing hands, not one precious one.

Together is how the cheap and the many out-cover the large and the precious. Tell us what needs covering.
